KUALA LUMPUR: The city will see a landmark fashion event next month that will, for the first time, establish it as the destination for fashion runway extravaganza.
Stylo KL Fashion Festival will take Kuala Lumpur by storm from March 15 to 23, coinciding with the F1 race weekend from March 21 to 23.
A bright red box that can accommodate 400 guests will be built outside the Pavilion shopping mall where all the fashion events and shows will be held.
Stylo will be a showcase of Malaysian, regional and international talents.
Among the top local names are Datuk Tom Abang Saufi, Jendela Batik, RIZALMAN IBRAHIM, Edric Ong, Khoon Hooi and Michael Ong.
Italian label Versace will grace the pre-opening night with its Spring/ Summer 2008 collection.
To mark the grand opening night, Malaysian designer Melinda Looi will be presenting her collection with Shu Uemura and L’Oreal Professional.
Malaysian label BritishIndia will have top Indian models and yoga practitioners strutting the runway in its designs.
Mercedes-Benz Stylo Awards Night presented together with The Star on March 21 will be a red carpet event, followed by a masquerade after-party ‘Who Am I?’
“Stylo is not just about clothes but encompasses all aspects of the fashion industry,” said Datuk Nancy Yeoh, managing director of RAPR Mileage Communications.
The festival is one of the eight events of Kuala Lumpur Grand Prix Week 08, organised by the Kuala Lumpur Tourism Action Council to celebrate 10 years of F1.
